'Signature' 1911 Checkering Challenge
The project was scratch built on a bar stock slide blank trimmed to accommodate a 4.5" barrel with interchangeable front sight and gold bead insert. The rib was hand checkered and the muzzle included the 'Browning' and ball cut treatment that has been a Liebenberg trademark since the beginning of his career. The bushing is a stainless ISS type with matching closed plug and stainless standard length guide rod.
The trigger guard was replaced with a squared profile and hand checkered to complement the slightly extended and raked checkered mag catch head. The .205 diameter slide stop is also checkered.

Bomar rear sight included a target cut blade and was hand checkered 40 LPI to match the treatment on the rear of the slide. Traditional slide cocking serrations were replaced by checkered panels that matched the checkered ambi safeties and hammer. The front strap and main spring housing were both hand checkered 30LPI and a custom weld-on mag well was added.

Because of the focus on checkered metal work, smooth walnut grips with Liebenberg Signature engraving were installed.

The 4.5" Slide length built on a standard stroke 1911 frame has proven to be a very well balanced option, both from a visual standpoint and range performance.
